Last fall, Advance CTE co-hosted the CTE Forward Summit in partnership with nine national organizations, including ACTE, bringing together 200 leaders to set a new vision for the future of CTE. It was clear that now is the time to craft a bold vision where each learner can access and be successful in high-quality CTE programs without any limitations or barriers.
Without Limits: A Shared Vision for the Future of Career Technical Education (CTE Without Limits) lays out five inter-connected and equally critical principles, foundational commitments and a call to action for national, state and local CTE leaders. The principles include:
- Principle 1: Each learner engages in a cohesive, flexible and responsive career preparation ecosystem.
- Principle 2: Each learner feels welcome in, is supported by and has the means to be successful in the career preparation ecosystem.
- Principle 3: Each learner skillfully navigates their own career journey.
- Principle 4: Each learner’s skills are counted, valued and portable.
- Principle 5: Each learner can access CTE without borders.
ACTE is pleased to join Advance CTE and 37 other organizations in supporting this vision. Only through a shared commitment and action at all levels of policy and practice can we realize its potential. The principles and related action items that make up the vision call for the creation of a cohesive, flexible and responsive career preparation ecosystem that will close equity gaps in educational outcomes and workforce readiness, and leverage CTE as a catalyst for ensuring each learner can reach success in the career of their choice. We look forward to working with the other supporting organizations over the next few years to achieve these goals.
We hope you can join us for the release event celebration on March 18 at 2 pm ET. You can register here.
