The Catalyzing Career and Technical Education Competition has now been officially launched and the RFP has been released for the competition. As mentioned in an earlier post on our blog, the goal of the competition is to select CTE programs that are taking innovative approaches to help students successfully transition into a labor market that has been deeply affected by COVID-19, and to expand CTE access to underserved and high-need youth. Funding for this competition comes from the Department of Education’s Office of Career, Technical and Adult Education in partnership with Social Finance and JFF.
Two winners, who must be Perkins-eligible CTE providers, will receive $150,000 to $225,000 in technical assistance in order to support program development and expand their CTE programs. The winners will also receive expert consultation services, an evaluation to examine their preparedness to scale up programs, and ways for the CTE programs to explore new funding strategies to determine the feasibility of outcomes-based funding.
To learn more about the competition, Social Finance has additional information on their competition page, and strongly encourages competitors to notify them with an intent to apply by October 16. A webinar on October 6, at 12 (noon) ET is being hosted to address any questions competitors might have. The deadline to apply is December 4.
