Recently, a group of senators sent a letter to the leaders of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee in support of Perkins reauthorization. The House of Representatives unanimously passed the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act, which would reauthorize the Perkins Act, in June. However, the Senate has yet to act on a Perkins bill that would make important improvements to the federal system of support for CTE. The letter, sponsored by Senators Jim Inhofe (R-OK) and Claire McCaskill (D-MO), encouraged the HELP committee to take up Perkins reauthorization without delay.
