Education Dive, a DC-based education publication, ran a new story on Friday, April 7, digging into the future of education and strategies to overcome the challenges faced by the 95 percent of American CEOs who say their companies are struggling with the skills gap. The article draws attention to the critical nexus between the demands of the 21st century economy and the skills taught in high-quality CTE programs, and looks ahead to the ways policymakers and education stakeholders hope to build on the progress made thus far.
I was pleased to provide comments for the article during a conversation with its author, and shared ACTE’s perspective on how shifting attitudes about CTE are opening doors for more students to pursue programs that prepare them for college- and career-success. In addition, the article emphasizes the critical importance of relationships between secondary and postsecondary institutions, as well as business partners, to break down the remaining barriers faced by CTE students.
ACTE regularly communicates with members of the media and other stakeholders to call attention to the important work being done in CTE programs nationwide, and encourages our members to do the same. To learn more about how you can get involved, click here to visit the Advocacy Toolkit.
