The 10 finalists for the 2015 Aspen Prize for excellence in community colleges have been announced. The top 10 were whittled down from more than 100 eligible institutions. The Aspen Prize assesses community colleges’ achievements in four areas: student learning, certificate and degree completion, high rates of employment and earnings for graduates, and high levels of access and success for minority and low-income students. From this list, several may be chosen as winner or finalists-with-distinction:
- Brazosport College in Lake Jackson, TX (a finalist for the second time)
- City Colleges of Chicago - Kennedy-King in Chicago, IL
- CUNY Hostos Community College in the Bronx, NY
- El Paso Community College in El Paso, TX
- Indian River State College in Fort Pierce, FL
- Lake Area Technical Institute in Watertown, SD (third-time finalist)
- Olympic College in Bremerton, WA
- Renton Technical College in Renton, WA
- Santa Fe College in Gainesville, FL (second-time finalist)
- West Kentucky Community and Technical College in Paducah, KY (third-time finalist)
The winners and finalists-with-distinction will be announced in March 2015.
