The FY 2014 omnibus appropriations bill cleared the Senate last night on a bipartisan vote of 72-26. As we previously reported, the House overwhelming approved the funding measure, including a $53 million increase for Perkins, earlier this week.
The funding boost for Perkins will restore over 90 percent of the cut to CTE state grants that occurred in 2013 as a result of sequestration. ACTE and the CTE community have worked tirelessly over the past year to replace the damaging sequester cut. This bill is a huge step in the right direction toward fully funding CTE! Thousands of CTE advocates nationwide have contacted their Members of Congress over the past week and urged them to supporting investing in Perkins. Those efforts were a crucial part of this funding victory and we would like to thank all of the CTE champions who took the time to make their voices heard on Capitol Hill!
